Tyne is a two-lane collector with no shoulder, deep ditches cut on both sides and a steady stream of drivers using it to get between Granny White Pike and Franklin Pike without touching either. How much to get a stump ground out on Tyne Blvd?
Depends mostly on diameter and species. In 2026 a small stump runs roughly $100 to $175, a mid-sized one $175 to $350, and a large hardwood - a real white oak, hickory or post oak - $350 to $700. On Tyne there is sometimes a small addition for a very long walk-in, and we say so upfront in the quote rather than adding it afterward. A photo gets you a number, not a range.
Can you park on the road while you work?
No, and we would not want to. Tyne has no shoulder and ditches on both sides, and a truck and trailer half in a lane on a road people treat as a shortcut is asking for trouble. We stage on your property. If your drive genuinely cannot hold a trailer, we will drop the machine and take the truck and trailer elsewhere for the duration.

What can add to it is a long walk that crosses soft lawn and needs mats laid and picked up, or a route that will not take a wheeled machine at all. Do you take the surface roots too, or only the stump?
Either, and it is worth deciding before we quote. On a silver maple the roots ridging your lawn are often the thing that actually bothers you, and they are separate work from the stump itself. We can shave the ones inside the mower's path down below grade so they stop scalping, or leave them if you are planting a bed over the area anyway.
We're rebuilding and the stump is where the addition goes. How deep can you go?
Deeper than standard. The usual depth is six to twelve inches under grade, which is enough for lawn and planting. Under a slab, footing or drive we go further and take the laterals out in the footprint too, because wood left under concrete rots and leaves a void. Tell us what is going on top and we will match the depth to it.
