The older north end of Lealand is built the way streets were built in the 1920s and 40s: houses close to each other, lots long and narrow, no rear alley and no service access. The occasional American elm that survived the disease decades ago is still out there, usually the biggest thing on the block. Noise, neighbours and where the truck sits

North of Battery the houses are close and the street parking is tight, so we plan arrival for mid-morning rather than seven o'clock, and we do not leave a machine idling while we set up. A grind of this size is loud for forty minutes to two hours, not all day, and we will tell you the likely window so you can warn whoever needs warning.

The truck usually sits on the street directly outside with the trailer tucked in behind, which is the one place it can go. If your block is at the point where residents are parked bumper to bumper by mid-morning, say so and we will come earlier or bring the smaller trailer. It is a five-second conversation on the phone that prevents twenty minutes of circling.
